Howard Day is the Managing Director
of Howard Day Associates (HDA), a firm of Chartered Surveyors, providing
property advice to the leisure sector.
Howard Day is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
He has extensive knowledge and experience of both the business and
leisure property industries and has acted as Expert Witness on matters
concerning licensed leisure.

Howard can act as an Expert Witness where property valuations are
required to determine the legitimacy of a claim or to assess the
quantum of damages. The reasons for a dispute can vary, including:-

An example of a case where the damages were to be assessed on the
valuer's evidence, is Plummer v TIBSCO where Howard appeared in
the High Court for the Claimant.
In 2003, Howard was Expert Valuation Witness for Bernard Crehan
in the highly publicised Courage
v Crehan. This complicated case necessitated the capital
and rental valuation of two public houses on a tied and free of
tie basis over a 12 year period. The case has been through the High
Court, The Court of Appeal and the House of Lords.
Being an Expert Witness requires high ethical standards in compliance
with Civil Procedure Rules, with the overriding duty being to the
court or tribunal. Howard Day has received full training as an Expert
Witness; is a Member of the Academy of Experts as well as the Expert
Witness Institute, so when employing Howard's expertise in this
